I provide one-to-one private calligraphy and lettering tuitions —week days or weekends— for a calligraphy introduction or to deepen in one particular style.
These private coaching sessions are conducted online via Zoom.
I specialise in Copperplate calligraphy, script brush lettering, vector-based lettering using Illustrator and Glyphs, and illustrated lettering.

I teach broad-edge pen Roman Capitals, Modern Carolingian, Italic calligraphy, Neuland and Blackletter for beginners.

About Your Instructor
Maria Montes | Calligrapher, Brand & Lettering Designer
Maria Montes is an independent lettering designer and illustrator specialised in branding assets and calligraphy education.
Her multidisciplinary practice expands across brand identity, packaging illustration, custom lettering, calligraphy, fashion, art and culture. She has been teaching calligraphy independently since 2014 including: Copperplate, Italic, Blackletter, Carolingian, Neuland, Roman Capitals and Brush lettering.
Maria studied a Postgraduate Course in Advanced Typography in Barcelona and a Condensed Program in Typeface Design at Type@Cooper in NYC. In 2018 she released her first independent display chromatic font family called Green Fairy.

Can I still do the course as a left hander?
Absolutely yes! In fact, left handers are great calligraphers and you may find easier to follow the angle of the writing in comparison to right handers. Check this video about left hander positioning.

These private tuitions can be conducted in English, Spanish and Catalan. I also speak Portuñol!

No, these private tuitions are for all levels, from total beginners to advanced students.
Do you also provide private lettering tuitions?
Yes! I can help you with hand lettering, pixel-based lettering with Procreate and vector-based lettering with Adobe Illustrator or Glyphs App.
